SHAW, Lorenzo: Death index indicates Lorenzo Shaw 53 from Toronto died on August 4, 1909 (2-53). I have been searching for Lorenzo Shaw, born in New York State abt. 1820 to Stephen Shaw. The family settled in WI, but Lorenzo, Hamilton and Alvin Shaw were in Kansas in 1860. I am decended from Alvin and I have more information on the Shaw Line. I am looking for information on my great-great grandfather and his family. His name was Daniel F. Gassaway, his son was Lemuel Gassaway. Daniel shows up on the 1850 census at Neosho Falls. Lemuel lists his residence at Neosho Falls in 1863 when he enlisted in the 9th Kansas Cavalry (Co. F). Daniel also served in the 9th Kansas Cavalry (Co. F). Bertha HARLOW b. 1885 d. 1913 (Bertha is thought to have died in a fire, possibly in Fredonia) They had at least on child Granville Edward CONANT b.11-27-1909 d. 3-19-1976. Granville CONANT m. 11-10-1929 Ethel Marie CASTO b. 12-10-1912 in Toronto Ks. Ethel was the daughter of Oney Mason CASTO b.3-25-1895 d. 2-1933 and Mattie Harmon June CLARK b. 1-23-1890 d, 11-19-1978. Mattie was the daughter of William Newton CLARK and Lydia Catherine YAKEL of Greenwood Co Ks I have quite a bit of info on the CLARK and YAKEL lines but very little on the others. It is believed that these families lived around the towns of Toronto, Fall River, Fredonia and others in Greenwood, Woodson and Wilson Counties. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. "In 1897 Mary and Andrew Denner bought a second farm about 1/2 mile north of Piqua (Woodson County, Kansas). "Andrew Denner died June 29, 1913 at thee age of 81. Mary Denner died December 30, 1916 at 61 years of age." Three daughters of Mary and Andrew Denner never left Piqua. Theresa Wysocki

I am looking for information on exact location of my Great Grandparents Homestead near Neosha Springs. They homesteaded from 1868 to 1875 when they returned to Iowa. Their homestead was a distance from the Neosha River. May not have spelled that right. Frederick C. and Eliza Ulrich. Cyrus Benton Williams was born in 1853 and died in 1933, Nancy Jean (Gleason) Williams was born 1856 and died in 1930. Wiggins, James Phillip, born 1844, died October 18, 1906, Yates Center, Kansas is listed as a veteran, I presume from the Civil War was married to Delphine Clawson. They had one daughter that I know of Gertrude Jane Wiggins Mosier, who lived in Rose, Eminence Township, Woodson County. This is all I know about them. Oliver P. woody and family were in Toronto Twp, Woodson County Kansas on the 1870 census, then (if this is the same Oliver P. Woody) he was only 17. I only have the names of 3 of his children, one born in 1889 in the state of Washington. His brothers were in Clifton Twp, Washington County by 1880,but so far I have not found him. I'm researching my gr grandpa William Hughes and his brother Logan who show up on the 1870 fed census for Woodson Co. They most likely are on the 1880 census as well. I know that William is buried in Yates Center and he was a Civil War veteran having served in the Union Army with his brother Logan. William died in 1896. Would like to know if there are decendants in the area and if there are any G.A.R. records that may contain any info on William & Logan. Any assistance appreciated. Johnny

They were parents of six children, all born in Yates Center: Emma Jane b: 1880, Ellora b: 1882, Flora May b: 1884, Blanche A b: 1887, Raymond R b: 1891 & William b: 1893. We believe John W. I recently received information that the NAYLOR family settled in Woodson Co., KS in early 1880s in Vernon and Yates Center area. Believe they originated from France, came to New York, then PA, OH, IL, IA, MO, KS. I am searching for the STROW and ALBERTS families, and am told that the mothers of the STROW and NAYLOR men were ALBERTS sisters. My gr gr grandmother was Louisa STROW HAPES, and her mother was Catherine ALBERTS b. circa 1819 PA. I do not know the name of Catherine's sister that married the NAYLOR. Have found surnames of LEWIS, LOUK, MILLER, JENKINS, TAYLOR and BALDWIN that married into NAYLOR family. Any help is appreciated greatly. Leanna Eversmeyer
