YOUNG

I am hunting for any info on my grandmother Fonda Bell Young. She was born in Oakhill, Kansas, Clay County, on June 1, 1885. She Had a brother named Dan and sisters named Hattie, Lizzy, Mary, and Nettie. The family stayed in Kansas moving to Haysville and Wichita in later years. Any and all help really appreciated. Thanks

BLEVINS

I am looking for information on my grand father Earl Blevins, he was born in Wichita in 1895. His father was Albert Blevins. He had two bothers John and Paul Blevins. John and Paul stayed in the Wichita area all their lives. My grandfather left to fight in WWI and moved to NJ after the war. Any information on this family would be helpful.

LAKE /KETTERING

Hi, I'm researching the surname LAKE. My first known ancestors in Sedgwick County were Port Lincoln LAKE, my grandfather; Mary Clara Wilmetta KETTERING, my grandmother. My mother (Elene Francis POWELL, adopted TIDWELL), and us four children were all born there. My father, Loren Davis LAKE was born in Medicine Lodge, Barber County. I have quite a bit of information on the family if anyone is interested, and of course I'm always looking for additional information.

HUSTON

Edward J Huston aged 76 b.1Feb 1875 in Polk Co,Ia came to Sedgwick Co. more than 50 yrs ago. Served as Sedgwick county commissioner from 1945 to 1947. Worked as railway mail clerk for 34 yrs.Member of Plymouth Congregational church and was a 32nd degree Mason. I am looking for his wife's maiden name only listed as Bess. He is buried in Wichita Park cemetery. Any assistance would be appreciated.

CONKLIN /DAVIS /SARSONS

I am searching for children or grandchildren who are descended from Louisa Conklin, who lived in Oxford, KS in the l890's. I have been thinking that her children might have moved to Sedgewick County (with its larger urban population). Conklin was a half-sister of my grandfather, and is the daughter of Robert Davis and Mary Sarsons. Davis was born in New Hampshire in l817, and died in Lincoln County, Nebraska in l883. His will was not settled until l894, and Conklin was the petitioner who urged settlement of the estate. Conklin was born in Miegs County, Ohio.

McLEAN

I am looking for information on my Great Great Grandfather, Ben McLean. There is a street named after him in Wichita, as well as a park, and a fountain in town dedicated to his memory. MARKLAND

I'm searching for any information on the MARKLAND Family. Thomas Earl Markland b. 3-18-1879 (?where), d. 4-1-1865 in Colorado. I only know that he returned from fighting in the Spanish American War (c. 1900) to his parent's home in Wichita. His parents names were Sylvester and Elizabeth Markland. Known siblings are Jessie, Myrtle, Ida, Herbert and Donald. Thomas married Carrie Nigh in Wilson Co. He worked for Missouri Pacific RR in Kansas before moving to Colorado to farm. Does anyone have any information on this family and where they were from?

ELTING

I am looking for any information on the Elting families in Kechi, KS during the late 1800's and early 1900's. My ggrandfather's brother, Charles Marion Elting went to Kechi in the very early 1900's. He was staying with another Elting there. CM died in 1921. Any help or leads would be very kind.

BOSTON /DENNY /JOHNSON

Boston, Gray (no middle name)(b)June 12, 1903 in TN, (d)May 27, 1969 in Wichita, KS. He married (in MO I think) Georgia Denny Jan. 6, 1930, divorced Feb. 6, 1941 in Wichita. He remarried Mary Ellen Johnson (not sure when). Gray and Mary had no children together. Gray had 2 children, a boy, William Boston, and a girl, Ethie Jane Boston. I think Georgia was their mother. The last I heard, William was in Riverbank, CA, and Ethie Jane was in Jacksonville, FL. Gray's father was Robert Boston, and mother was Ethie Gray.

SHULTZ

James Henry Shultz was my great grandfather. He was a constable in Sedgwick County, Kansas but I have no dates as to when he would have served. He was born in l858 and died going to see his brother in Nash, Oklahoma Fe. 8, l93l.If you can be of any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. I am searching for the birthmother of a coworker who was adopted. My friends name is Russell E. Locke and he was born in Newton, Ks. on 6-4-1966. According to his birth certificate, his mothers name is Helen Jane Hawkins (Spratlen). No father was listed, at the request of the mother. Helens' DOB was 2/13/39 and her address was 2050 W 11th St., Wichita, Ks. Helen was a Registered Nurse since 1960. If you can help, Russell (and I) would be most greatful.

Nathaniel Jacoby, age 35, widower, children Ida May (9), Jenney or Jennie (7), Anvias (5) were listed on the 1880 Census for Grant township, Sedgwick county. I am trying to find any information I can on any of these people. Catherine McNell (age 57) was also listed in the household as M which I assume means mother.

CRITSER

I'm looking for Lewis W. and Rebecca PARKER CRITSER who were married 21 February 1853 in Lafayette Indiana. They celebrated their 60th wedding day in Wichita in 1913. Their children were Haddassa A. (Mrs. William P. Grimes--Oregon), Catharine "Katie" (Mrs. E.N. Benjamin Kansas), and L. William Critser (Turlock, CA). The Critsers are buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Wichita. Thanks for your help.

Looking for information on Walter B. BARBEE and Loretta (Lola) BARTLEY who lived at 625 S. Water St. in Wichita, KS in 1915. These are my grandparents. Would love to have any information on them. Their son, Walter Allen BARBEE was born May 6, 1915. The attending physician was Roy Chi..b..y who gave his address as 710 Schweiter Bldg.
In 1916 Wichita City Directory, the following is listed: BARBEE, Walter B. (Loretta), meat cutter, Sanitary Gro. Co., residence 214 W. Indianapolis Ave., Wichita, KS
Loretta BARTLEY's parents, Owen Victor & Mary BARTLEY may also have lived in Wichita around the same time. Owen Victor (aka Victor or Vic) was a machinist and inventor.
