BERGEN, DEN, VAN posted by paul vd Bergen on Monday, September 7, 1998: I am looking for family members of Jacobus Francies van den bergen, he was born in Honttenisse 19-4-1822 ( Holland ) His wife was Anna Catherina van den Bergen / Ivens born in Grauw 5-10-1821 ( Holland ) They married 25-7-1847 in Grauw In 1850 they left Holland They had 2 children, these children where born in America ( i think in some place in Ohio ) The name's of these children where Pieter ( Peter ) van den Bergen and Maria van den Bergen It maid be that there are some parts of our name are gone in the US ( van den ) Because i have some info over the name " BERGEN "

One of the sisters, Mary (1847-1941), settled in Sabetha, Nemaha Co., KS, with her husband, David HENNIGH (1847-1921). He was also from Centre Co., PA. They had 11 children, including daus who married to men named BESTWICK and CLOSE. Thus, it is probable that I am related to any/all persons named HENNIGH/BESTWICK/CLOSE, etc. in Nemaha Co. ALLEN posted by Tom Allen on Sunday, November 8, 1998: My great grandfather and great grandmother John Hezekiah and Mary Elizabeth Allen were living in Nemaha Co. after he got out of the Civil War. Register of deed info for August 1866 in Marshall Co. for settling my great great grandfather's will lists them as living in Nemaha Co. I have not other information that indicates the location within the county. Any ideas of where to look? Any assistance appreciated.

AZIER, WEMPE, WINKLER posted by Peggie (Knoblauch) Ballard on Sunday, November 8, 1998: I am just starting research on my late husband's family for our sons. Nemaha County is rich in history about the Winklers, so I am told. Bernard Winkler came from Germany, settled in Brown county, then moved to Nemaha county. He married Mary Wempe, whose parents also came from Oldenburg, Germany, in 1869 at Atchison, KS. They had eleven children, one being Joe John Winkler who wed Della Aziere, who were Lawrence 'Germ' Winkler's parents. My ex-late husband was one of Lawrence and Teresa McGinty Winkler's sons, Kenneth. He is buried in Sts P&P Cemetery north of Seneca, as is his dad. His mom, Teresa was in the Seneca Care home last I heard. Bernard was a pioneer in Kansas.

OWENS posted by Sharon King on Sunday, November 8, 1998: I am looking for information on my g-grandfather, George Wilbur Owens, born, _____, ____, died 1925-26. He lived as a young man in Schenectady (?) or upstate New York and his parents were purportedly from Wales. I think he had 3 sisters; the last his grandchildren heard, the sisters remained unmarried. He married Frances Menorah McCombs: the family believes her mother�s name was McCaig. or McKaig, McCague. It is thought her background was Scots-Irish-English. She had two sisters. Family anecdotes indicate that she was adopted. I do not know where they were married or how they got from NY to Kansas. George worked as a railroad line inspector in Kansas, probably at or near Goff (Goffs), Nemaha County, Kansas and at one time ran a variety store. He lived in Marysville, Marshall County, Kansas in 1883 when his son, Chester, was born and in Goff, Nemaha County, Kansas, from at least 1889 when daughter, Phoebe Jane (Jennie) was born, through late 1906. The family then moved to Cherokee, Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, at least by 27 September 1907 and was still living there on 13 July 1910.

Viola listed her place of residence as Seneca, Nemaha, Ks, Aaron listed Holton, Jackson,Ks. I would like to hear from anyone researching these 2 people.
