Query: I am researching my husbands family from Osawatomie, Kansas. His name was Corneilius Albert Henderson, born June 28, 1891, he had two brothers - Roy and Claude. C. Albert passed away 1898 and is buried in Elmdale. C. Albert was married to a woman named Emma Somers from Ohio, I do not know if they were married in Ohio or Kansas, after he passed away she remarried a man by the name of Dolan and I believe she is buried in Elmdale also but am not sure.

IL), with children: David b 1862 MO; Thomas b 1864 MO; Isaac b 1867 MO; Lydia b 1873 MO. I also think one of their married daughters, Sarah R. Gatlin LONG, B 1860 MO was living with them in 1880. Need to know if she is shown as a Widow?

Response: The Gatlin family group is located in MI Co KS 1880 on Roll #389, ED 147 Sheet 29 Line 24: Hardy Gatlin, 69 with wife Elizabeth 67 and children: David, Thomas, Isaac, Samuel, Lydia and widowed daughter Sara Long. Her two sons Willie 2, and John 1 were living with this family also.

Response: From Family Histories and Stories, [Vol I], p 220, James Karr story written by Shirley Karr. James Karr (b 1804, PA, son of Matthew Karr and Hannah Peas, d 4 Oct 1890, bur Jingo Cemetery, Miami Co, KS) married 4 times. First wife was Hester Doty, m 9 Apr 1825 at Franklin Co, IN, dau of John Doty. They had 8 children: Mary (b 1826, m Houston McCalip), Marie (b 1829, m Andrew Stevenson), Margaret (b 1830, m John King), John (b 1833), Andrew (b 1834), Hester (b 1836, m John Werth), Direxa (b 1838, m Otha DeMoss), Jane (b 1840, m James DeMoss).

On pp 219-220 there is approximately 16 column inches about the Karr families, including one picture of the Hamp Karr family. Much of what is written is about James Karr and his children from his second wife. There is nothing more written about the Doty family or James Karr and Hester Doty's children.

Response: The only information posted regarding the Christie family appears to all be related to the Israel Christie and his descendents. If you check the obituary listings you can find a reference to Israel Christie posted by one of his descendents. You may wish to consider contacting them.

Family Histories and Stories of Miami County, Kansas Vol. II, page 34, in a story about the Elm Grove Baptist Church in a listing of "Other memorials", Rev. Thomas HOPKINS is named as the donor of a "Picture (Christ in Gethsemane)". Submitted by Virginia (Weaver) Knop.

On page 38, in a story about the Miami Presbyterian Church it says, " ... In 1868 a Mr. McNELLY deeded an acre of land to be used for a school, and in 1869 an adjoining acre was deeded for a cemetery. Later, due to school redistricting, the land was returned to Mr. McNELLY, and he subsequently deeded it for a church. In 1887 the church was formed ..." Submitted by Pat Fox, Clerk of Session.

On page 88, in a story titled "Growing Up In Louisburg, 1926-1944" by Phil Thomas, History Writer, it says "...Just across the alleyway to the west, in my earliest memory, there used to be a shoe shop, perhaps operated by a man named PURVIS ..."

On page 89, in a story titled "Growing Up In Louisburg, 1926-1944" by Phil Thomas, History Writer, it a discussion about the McElheny Drug Store, it says "...In the rear of the drugstore proper, Charles McNELLY had his insurance office ..."

Response: Pages 135-136 have approximately a page and a half of information about the extended Dellinger families going from Peter Dellinger (b 12 Oct 1838, father George Dellinger, mother Dorothea Helsey) to the late 1980's. Two pictures are included. p. 218 has about one-quarter of a page related to the McKinley family. Ethel Mary McKinley married Samuel E. Dellinger.

In the 1878 Taxpayers list, P. DELLINGER (age 39) and M. (presumably P's spouse) (age 30), in listed in the Wea and Ten Mile Township section. They owned 160 acres at WE34-15-24, which is in the Northwest part of Wea Township, 2.5 miles South of the Johnson/Miami County line and about 7 miles West of the Kansas/Missouri State line.

On the 1901 Atlas, P. is listed as Peter, property same location. There is also a T. A. DELLINGER with 80 acres adjoining Peter's property on the West and a plot of 66.20 just across the road along Peter's South property line. Adjoining T.A's 66.20 acres along it's East property line are 86.22 acres owned by S.E. DELLINGER.

They are living with Amanda's father, Aaron Williams, 51 and what appear to be her brothers Stephen 28, John 26, James 13, and Willie 6. There is no other female listed in the family group.
