NATIONS
Michael Nations ( mnations1955@yahoo.com) 18 Jan, 2004
My family lived in Kinsley Kansas in the approximate years 1953-1958. My fathers name was Starling Mack Nations and he purchased the Old Mercury (now the Edwards County Signal) in 1953 and sold in in 1958. Our family lived at 701 E. 7th Street in Kinsley. I was hopeful that  I could find out how much he paid for the newspaper in 1953, and how much it sold for. I am also curious about the cost of the two story home and how much it was sold for. My mother's name was Bernita Jean Nations. Both my folks are deceased. I was born in Topeka in 1955 when my father worked as executive secretary for Governor Fred Hall from Dodge City KS. I was only three years old when we left Kinsley, but my mother always said when our family lived in Kinsley were her favorite years of her life. My father also owned the Newspaper in Kingman Greensburg and Havilland during the 1950's. My parents are both buried in Greensburg, I am very fond of KS and it will always be home to me even after living in Houston, TX for 23 years.

Also his father remarried and Earl and Robert left home at a very early age. I found a 1900 census with some familar names however I"m not sure if this is the family. Bowman

---I am searching for my mother's half brothers who she was seperated from when their father got killed while working for the railroad.

The father's name is Nelson Carrie Bowman, born 1870 in Iowa. He married Eva Curtiss which was the boys mother. The boys names were Leon and Earl Bowman; however I have learned they might be JACOB LEON & JOSEPH EARL.

My grandmother's name was Manie "Bell" (Grigsby) Bowman. My grandmother had other children as well; but my mother was the only child of Bell and Nelson. Nelson was killed before my mother was a year old.

Mother's name was Carrie "May" Bowman born in 1916, & died in 1975.

After Nelson died the boys were sent to Kansas to live with their mother, at least that is what Mother thought. I have read a posting someplace which I believe is these boys. They were sent to Kansas but ended up in an orphanage, which they ran away from about ages 11 & 13.

My mother wrote several letters searaching for them, that was way before computers. May was born in 1916 and died in 1975. I would love to complete her desire to find her brothers families if possible.
