From a death certificate for Mary Ledin, who died in Pittsuburg, KS, I found that her place of burial was to be St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in Pittsburg, however, I can't find any reference to it's existence today. Is there such a cemetery and if so, where is it located? It would have to be in the Pittsburg area.

Topic: Hugh Patrick Sweeney buried in Pittsburg, KS ?
From: Elaine Alarico ealarico@yahoo.com
Date: Monday, February 10, 2003 07:30 AM

I am trying to find any info on Hugh Patrick Sweeney who homesteaded in McCracken, KS (by Hays) but decided he disliked farming and worked as a miner in Scranton, KS. He was born in Scotland on March 1857 & died in Scranton, KS on December 05, 1905 in mining accident - he is supposedly buried in Pittsburg, KS.

He immigrated from Scotland in 1878. He was married to Mary Murphy on April 27, 1882 in Scranton, Kansas and they had 7 children.

I am trying to verify he is buried in Pittsburg, KS but I dont know what cemetery. Also I wonder why he would be buried there since his wife and children lived in McCracken, KS unless he was separated from his wife (or god forbid) he was a Catholic that was divorced?

Please help!

Thank you!
