Obituary.

  The sad news of the death of his father, J. W. Fuller was received here last week by S. T. Fuller.  Mr. Fuller was 84 years of age, and while feeble of late years, his death was preceded by only a short illness and came unexpectedly.  Mr. Fuller had lived in Pleasanton for many years and the funeral was attended by many of his old friends.  It was in charge of the Masons, of which order the deceased had long been a member.  J. W. Fuller was born in Coles Co., Ill., on March 18, 1837.  He volunteered for the Union army on August 9, 1862 and served till the end of the war in Co. D, 123 Illinois Infantry.  He was united in marriage Feb. 19, 1866, to Miss Emily Sparks, to which union five children were born three of whom survive; J. O. of Eldorado Springs, Mo., Lucy D. Ganaway of Clovis, California, and S.T. Fuller of this place.

  Mr. Fuller was one of the oldest Masons, both in point of years and of membership, in this section of the state, having joined the order in 1862, before entering the Union Army.  During the war he spent 52 days in Libby prison, and always attributed his release from confinement to a Masonic password given a doctor there, who helped him to get out.

  He joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in early manhood and remained in the faith until his death.  He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic from the time of its founding.

  Though Mr. Fuller had devoted most of the latter years of his life to travel, he still considered Pleasanton his home, and returned here frequently.  May friends will be left to mourn his passing away at the en of a well spent life, and to sympathize with the bereaved family.
