ANOTHER VETERAN

GONE TO REWARD

  John Fluke another wearer of the bronze button, has passed to the beyond, the death summons coming to him at his home five miles northeast of Newton.  He has not been in robust health for the past two years having suffered a stroke of paralysis over two years ago, but his death came unexpected yesterday.  He had eaten his dinner as usual and during the afternoon he had been out of doors, later he was overcome with a stroke of apoplexy, the end coming in a short time.

  Mr. Fluke was born March 1, 1844 in Germany and came to the States when a lad of nine years.  His first home was in Illinois.  He enlisted in the army, Company A, Illinois light artillery and was discharged in 1865.  He came to Kansas in August 1876, and resided in Harvey county since that time with the exception of two years in Sedgwick county.  He is a well known farmer in the community east of Newton where the family has a host of sympathizing friends.  He is survived by a wife and eleven children, sons Adam, August, Will, Andy, John, Fred and daughters Mrs. E. K. Gardner, Mrs. John Seaman, Mrs. Arthur Gates, Mrs. Will Walton and Mrs. Vaden Robinson of Dodge City.

  The funeral service will be held at the family home at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning and at the cemetery chapel at 1:30.  The latter service will be conducted by the Judson Kilpatrick post.
