ISAAC E. PAGE DEAD

Isaac Evans Page, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. T. Arble, 215 N. Main street, last Thursday afternoon about one o’clock, after a lingering illness that rendered him bedfast for several weeks. The deceased was 73 years, 4 months and 22 days of age. Funeral services were held from the Arble home, Saturday afternoon at half past two, conducted by Rev. A. E. Henry, pastor of the First M. E. church, assisted by Rev. S. W. Brown pastor of the First Christian church. Interment was made in Green Lawn. The G. A. R. and Relief corps, attended in a body.

The death of Isaac Evans Page, removes one of the pioneers from this county, and a Christian gentleman whose residency in Pratt county, since 1887, with an intermission during which he was employed by the state, was marked by achievement and success as few careers are crowned. I. E. Page was born in Ohio, Clark county January 10th, 1843. He grew to manhood in his native state and enlisted in Company “F” 44th O. V. Inf. September 17th, 1861 and served until the close of the war. February 27th 1864, he was married to Sarah C. Neer. To this union were born four children, Annie C. now deceased, Keziah, now Mrs. H. T. Arble, Fred C. Page of this county, and Ernest D., who died in infancy, January 27th, 1884. He moved with his family to Kirksville, Ia., in 1870, and engaged in the merchandise business, until October 1887, when he moved to Pratt, Kansas, where he has since resided excepting fifteen years, during which time he was in the employ of the state at Osawatomie.

Mr. Page was a member of the First M. E. church, having united with that faith, when he was eighteen years of age. His life was exemplary as a Christian gentleman and genial neighbor, kind father and affectionate husband.
