John Albert Guyot Dead.

Henry Albert Guyot was born September 12, 1841, at Nechatel, Switzerland and died at his home in Harvey County, January 23, 1915. Being 68 years, 4 months and 11 days old at the day of his death. He came from Switzerland to America with his parents, in February 18, 1855, his first stop being at New Orleans. From there he went to Alton, Illinois, where they made their home until the Civil war, when he enlisted in 1864 in the 143 Illinois regiment of infantry and served faithfully until the close of the war. He was a true soldier for his country and distinguished himself by his bravery, and devotion to his flag.

In 1869 he moved from Illinois to Lincoln township in Sedgwick county, Kansas, where he homesteaded a claim and made his home. October 20, 1884, he was married to Miss Effie Maude Lantis, and to them were born ten children, four sons and six daughters. One son and one daughter died in infancy.

There remains to mourn for him, his wife, three sons, five daughters, three grandchildren and one brother, Chas. P. Guyot of Douglass. The sons are, Henry and Fred of Sheradin, Wyoming, and Ben at home. The daughters are, Mrs. Ada Matilda Uphoff of Peabody and Myrtle Ive, Edith Josephine, Lena Mary and June Pearl at home. His was a life of devotion to his country and family. He had the thrift peculiar to the Swiss people and had succeeded in his avocation, that of a farmer.

The community has lost a good citizen and his family a loving and devoted husband and father. He died very suddenly of heart failure. The funeral was held at school house 63 near his home. Rev. S. V. Lowe, pastor of the M. E. church officiating. He was buried in the cemetery at Walton, where he was laid to rest beneath the flag he loved so well. Brother, friend, comrade we miss thee and you have answered the last roll call here. But when the great Commander shall come in the clouds with power and great glory may it be yours to be with him there.
