Henry Hyer Stricken With Paralysis

While Feeding His Hogs.

  The many friends of Mr. Henry Hyer were grieved to hear of his sudden death Saturday morning August 8.  He had been in his usual health and had been working all day Friday.  In the evening while feeding his stock he had a paraletic (sic) stroke.  His son Frank went to the barn and found his father lying in an unconscious condition in the crib.  He was removed to the house and died about three o’clock Saturday morning.  The funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. E. G. Coons, Saturday at four p.m., and the remains were laid to rest in the Caney cemetery.

  Henry Hyer was born in the year 1838 and died August 8, 1903, aged, 65 years and 14 days.  He was a member of the Lutheran church.  He fought in defense of his country in the fourth Illinois cavalry in July 1861, and was mustered out at Springfield Ills. in 1866.  He came to Kansas in April 2, 1870, and settled on the home farm where he died.  He married Miss Lydia Kenline August 31, 1874.  Three children were born to them, Frank E., Mrs. Fannie Pearl Orr and Miss Maud E. Hyer, who with the mother are left to mourn the departure of a kind and loving husband and father.  Mr. Hyer was highly respected by all who knew him.

  A very large number of friends and neighbors attended the funeral and followed him to his last resting place.
