The old soldier A. A. Hamblin, at 515 North Twelfth street, was called to his reward Wednesday at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 10 days. Members of McPherson Post G. A. R. attended, the services at the home, and several went to Liberty with the family where remains were interred by comrades. Mr. Hamblin was born in Indiana and enlisted at 18 in the Ninety-seventh Indiana and served with credit. He marched with the Fifteenth Army Corps and was with General Grant in many of the hardest fought engagements. Twenty-three years ago he located in Liberty township where his wife, Sarah E. Uland died the following year in May. A few years later he married Mrs. Mary Marchant of Liberty, who survives him with their daughters, Nellie, Maxine, Audra and Mildred; Mrs. David Hughes, Neodesha; Mrs. Charles Maxson, Liberty; Mrs. Sarah Baker, Cherryvale, and Mrs. Logan, Bolton; the sons, Merrit and Clarence are at home, William and Harvey in California and Charles in Sapulpa, Okla. The interment was at Liberty beside his first wife.
