Am searching for WALKER, John Wesley T.,or sometimes listed as Wesley
William T., and wife Frances Ann (WAGGONER), who were living in Kansas
when their two children, Beulah Maud (1889) and Earl James Sylvester
(1890) were born, probably in Cherokee county. Wesley/John and Frances
Ann WALKER are both buried in Columbus, having died in 1945 and 1952,
respectively. Hope someone has some information on the family.

NASH Timothy G. NASH lived in Cherokee Co.,KS in the very late 1800s and
early 1900s. He was born in IN and moved to Nodaway Co. MO. From there
he came to Cherokee Co. KS. He was the twin brother of my gg
grandfather, George Washington NASH. Timothy is buried in Mound Cemetery
in Cherokee Co. Janet Sue MILAM 108 W. Ollie Floydada, TX 79235-3847

death of her husband, ASA C. KETCHUM, in Chautauqua Springs, KS
(residence in Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS) in 1881, married GEORGE R.
McCORKELL (Civil War vet from IN) on 7 Nov 1883 in Cherokee Co., KS.
They resided near Scammon, Crawford Co., KS between 1883-95, before
moving to Joplin, MO. Any info appreciated.

BURTON: JOHN A. D. BURTON (1857-1933), son of DAVID A. BURTON (1832),
lived in Cherokee Co., KS in 1881. He married MARY J. TOLER on 27 Mar
1881 in Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS. He was a newspaper editor/publisher
and published The McCune Standard between 1880-83. After 1881, he moved
to El Dorado, Butler Co., KS and died there in 1933. MARY BURTON later
moved to Potwin, Butler Co., KS and died in 1953. She is buried in
McGill Cem. Their children were: HARRY (1882-82), CHLOE (1884-84),
ELIZABETH F., b 22 Aug 1898 in Florence, KS & married WILLIAM F. POE
(1899-1968), & ALEXANDER KANSAS b aft 1898 in El Dorado, Butler Co.,
KS. Any info appreciated.

in 1904. Shows that he was a superintendent of schools, I believe in
Galena.

Any information on Joshua James or James Joshua MARTIN, born 3 Feb 1865,
in Manchester, Scott, Illinois. Married 1 May 1891 to Elizabeth Ellen
OGLE, place unknown. He worked as a Coal Miner and a Millwright. May
have worked the mines of Cherokee County, Kansas, Crawford County, Kansas
or Burbon County, Kansas. The last record I have found is: 1910 Census,
Libreral, Barton, Missouri. ED 5, sheet 29, line 175. He was 45 years
of age at that time. It has been rumored that he was seen in Pittsburg,
Crawford Co. Kansas in the 1930's. Any thing you can help with the
marriage place, and the death date and place, will be appreciated. Thank

Seeking info on my g-g-grandfather, Elijah Winfield PENNINGTON, who first
settled near Columbus (Cherokee Co.) in 1877 before settling near Chetopa
and later in Welch (Craig Co.), OK. Born 1848, Clinton Co., IN, married
Elizabeth KIRKENDALL, and died at Chetopa in 1928. Their children, born
in Cherokee and Labette counties, are: my g-grandfather, Armondo B.
PENNINGTON (m. Maude MCALISTER); Ella Margaret PENNINGTON (m. Wm. Alonzo
WRIGHT);
Will Jennings PENNINGTON (m. Byrdie Horn); Elijah Andrew "Bide"
PENNINGTON (m. Opal CHILDEARS); Mattie Pearl PENNINGTON (m.Guy O.LOWER);
and Howard Issac PENNINGTON. ALSO: I married a beautiful woman from
Pennsylvania,
ancestor practiced medicine in Chetopa around the turn of the century --
Dr. Archabold B. TEMPLE. I want to learn more and would be glad to share

I am Sally Patton, daughter of Helen OLTMAN Loudermilk. Helen's parents
died in 1919 during the flu epidemic. They were buried together in Star
Cemetery in West Mineral. Their names were Will OLTMAN and Jenny (or Jean)
Thompson OLTMAN. I am seeking names of parents and/or siblings of Will.
They lived in Crestline, KS.
I have good info on ancestors of Jenny as my mother went to live with her
maternal grandmother after her parents' death. I would appreciate info or
leads about where to find Will's info. Many thanks for your important

My uncles, paternal grandfather, father & maternal grandfather came to
Cherokee County in late 20's, early 30's to work in lead & zinc mines
around Treece & Blue Mound. Their names were: Raymond LONG, William T.
(Bill) LONG, James Franklin POOLE, Delbert (Dee) POOLE and George J.
POOLE (father). My father graduated from Columbus High School. He and
my mother were married in 1941 in Oswego, KS. (Her name was Delpha Marie
LONG - Bill LONG's daughter).
I have some information on these people, but very little between 1925
and 1941. Can you help?

William REACE, b. Feb 1863 in central IN, lived in foster home in
IN in 1870, entered Baker Univ. in Balwin City, KS in 1883. College
entrance records show prior address as "Cherokee". May have
been
Cherokee Co. or town? Probably in KS. We have no information on his
whereabouts between 1870 and 1883 - need any information that might
prove helpful.
