Seeking biographical information about the family of George and Sarah (DYER) Winters who are found in the following: Marriage Records of Lee Co.,IA, Book 2, pg. 98, Geo. W. WINTERS m: Sarah V. DYER 10 Jan 1861 by Rev. Jno. Llewelling. They are later listed as living in Ft. Scott, Bourbon Co., KS in 1908, according to the obituary of George's brother, William Winters who died in in 1908 in Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA and who was buried in Ft. Madison, Lee Co., IA. Looking for information on Lucy Octavia Maddox. May have been born a McCormick but raised by the Maddox Family. Supposedly she left the Maddox family at the age of 7 (1850-1880) when Octavia Maddox died and went to live at an Indian school headed up by a gentleman named Larry Wolfe. Information of any sort would be appreciated.

I am looking for my great Aunts. They are the children of Frank and Belle Flora. Their names are: Hazel, She is married. Marriage last name is Donnelly. It may be spelled differently. She has 2 children and their names are Billy and Dorothy Jean. Ona, (deceased)has couple kids. Don't know if she married. I don't know her kids names. Mary Alice is married. She married to Ed/Edward Ford. They have no children as far as I know. And the twins:Pearl, have no idea about her. Sidney/Sydney, died before the age of 1. How he died was not known. They have another brother. His name was Chester David. He was born in Fort Scott Bourbon Kansas on 25 Feb.1906. It was not known how long they lived in Kansas before they moved to California. Looking for any information on Stephen D. Burrows (wife, Emeline C. Payne) who lived in the Bourbon Co. KS area (south of Uniontown), in the 1875-1900 time-frame. Their first six children were born in OH: possibly two sons [maybe twins], who died in infancy; Lewis A., Harriet, Douglas, and Sadie; while their seventh child, Lucy, was born in Iowa. The rest of their children, Amanda A., Rose, John Henry, Susanna, Samuel Drury, May, Charles Marcus, and Cleva, were born in KS. Stephen is buried in the Mason Cemetery, located approximately 6 miles southeast of Uniontown, (Bourbon Co) KS. Any information on this family is most welcome.

Hi! I am looking for the parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. of Frank B. Flora. He was born in 1869. Birthplace is unknown. One of his relative was a lawyer and he(lawyer) had changed his original last name to Flora. I don't know if it happened before Frank was born or after he was born. Frank was married to Belle (born in 1877). They had 6 children. Their names are (not in order)Hazel, Ona, Mary Alice, Chester David, and the twins Pearl and Sidney/Sydney (spell- ing isn't known). Chester was born in Fort Scott. I don't know about the others. From there, they moved to California. Anyone with/ the informations on Frank's and his family, please contact me at obj@cyberstreet.com. Missouri but lived in the Ft.Scott,Kansas area. Their son Daniel Stanious Naples was born 1-22-1879 in Ft.Scott. I know of a Peter Gates who changed his name from Gartz when they can to the US, but the were from Pawnee Station, KS--just south of Fort Scott on the Bourbon/Crawford County line.

Hi Virginia,

I am a Wilson descendant of Wilson's from Bourbon County, KS. My gg-grandfather was J. E. or Jacob Earl Wilson born July 20, 1885 in Fort Scott, KS. He died in OK. Jacob was the son of Mahlon Jacob Wilson from IL. He had many siblings.

Mahlon J. Wilson and Clarissa Eleana Spears had the following children (I have their lines as well)

1. Maude Della 1871
2. Minnie E. 1872
3. Melda K. Wilson born 1875
4. Alice A. 1883
5. Jacob E. 1885
6. Francis F. 1888

One or two were born in Allen County, KS. I have complete dates and information on descendant's if this is your family.

James McCleith BROWN b. 1832 in TN and d. 1911 in MO. He married Martha "Jane" HALE ca. 1855 and they homesteaded around Ft. Scott. He served in the 5/6th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry from 1861-1865 according to his tombstone in Stone Cemetery near Joplin, MO. I am seeking any information such as a census or Civil War service list or any knowledge of this family. They moved to Diamond, MO some time after 1865. John HALE is supposed to be the father of Jane. Thank you in advance for your efforts.
