NEWSPAPER UNKNOWN, 29 June 1933
Obituary of  SARAH ELIZABETH ELSE
Another pioneer wife and mother passed away, Thursday, June 29th, 1933 a 9 o'clock in the evening. Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth ELSE passed away in her home at Haddam at the age of 77 years, 5 months.

Sarah Elizabeth VAN BUSKIRK was born Jan 29th, 1856 in Moulton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John Quincy ELSE, Feb 20th, 1876.

To this union were born four children, N.C. ELSE of Osborne, KS, Mrs. Olive KRISAN of Haddam, C.C. ELSE of Casper, WY and D.H. ELSE of Chicago, all of whom survive her, she also leaves to mourn her death one brother, George VAN BUSKIRK of Ottumwa, Iowa, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She and her husband came to Kansas as pioneers in a covered wagon nearly 50 years ago. Knowing all the hardships and privations of pioneer life she was ever brave and cheerful always ready with a helping hand and a hearty smile.

While in her young womanhood she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Brethren Church. Of
a quiet home loving nature she devoted her time to her family and endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact, she will be sadly missed by those near and dear to her, but her Christian faith and noble life will leave a memory that will linger and will be an
inspiration for higher and nobler things.
