NEWSPAPER UNKNOWN, 1931
Anniversary of MR. & MRS. ROBERT W. EVANS
A memorable event in the lives of the EVANS family was celebrated Wednesday in this city.

Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. EVANS have reached that
unusual time in life known as their sixtieth wedding anniversary, and they were fortunate in having with them all of their nine children and many of their grandchildren.

The celebration was a surprise to the guests of honor, but no less a day of enjoyment for them. Their children came and took them to the city park, where a picnic dinner and supper were served.

A grandson, Calvin EVANS, a teacher in the Pratt
High School made a very interesting talk, recalling and describing the events and experiences that have happened in the last sixty years.

A second surprise of the day was given the assembled guests, when a new bride and groom were introduced. The bride Miss Mildred GRAHAM, is a
granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. EVANS.

Her marriage to Mr. Walter WILLBRANT took place Wednesday morning. The day was an enjoyable one and in the evening the Baptist church congregation of which they are members gave a reception at the EVANS home.

Mr. Robert EVANS and Miss Rosetta WERNER were married in Osceola, IA, Aug 26, 1871 and a few months later they traveled by prairie schooner to Washington Co, where they homesteaded fifteen miles northwest of Washington.

This worthy couple have experienced the joys and blessings as well as the hardships of the pioneer. They recall the grasshopper year of 1874, also the early days when one received as low as thirty-five cents a day on the farm for labor.

Mr. & Mrs. EVANS have reared a family on nine children. They are Mrs. Cidda McMAINS, San Francisco, CA; Mrs. Viva McWILLIAMS, Morrill, KS; Mrs. Elsie GROVER, Menlo, KS; Troy EVANS, Vail, IA; Cal EVANS, Mrs. Veda GRAHAM, Mrs. Osceola ROWLAND, Miss Lettie and Miss Maza
EVANS, all of Washington.

Mr. and Mrs. EVANS have made their home in this city for a number of years but recently built themselves a new modern home on East Fifth St , which they moved into a week ago.
