Obituary of VERNON "FRANKIE" NEW
Vernon "Frankie" New, 81, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell.

He was born November 7, 1920, at Russell, the son of Frank Edwin and Marie Kathryn Schaat New.

He married Reba Mae Millikin, September 8, 1940, at Russell. She survives.

He lived all his live in Russell, except for time during his military duty, owned and operated New Oil company, a bulk delivery and service station operation, for many years, retiring in 1975.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, VFW and American Legion Posts, and Shrine Club, all of Russell, and consistory and ISIS Shrine, both of Salina.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Lucille Bieger.

Survivors include: his wife of the home; one son, Jimmy New, Walkerton, Indiana; one daughter, Jennifer L. Adams, Lawrence; one sister, Clarice Reinhardt,
Russell; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Glenn Tombaugh officiating.

The body was cremated and internment will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Frankie New Scholarship Fund at Trinity United Methodist Church in care of Pohlman's Mortuary, Russell, who is in charge of
arrangements.
