Funeral services for Nettie M. Calvin, who passed away at her home in LaCygne on December 31, 1954, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2 at the LaCygne Methodist church.

Rev. John Anderson conducted the rites. Music was furnished by a trio consisting of Susan Ross, Martha Irwin and Carolyn Wilholt accompanied by Mrs. Dan Ross, organist. The trio sang, "In the Garden of Tomorrow" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer."

Pallbearers were: Howard Frisbie, Wilbur Frisbie, Arthur Frisbie, Verner Shattuck, Grant Shattuck and Wilmer Calvin. Honorary bearers were Glenn Frisbie, Forest Calvin, Clark Calvin, Darrel Fulton, Howard Olsen and Vern Calvin. Burial was made in the Oak Lawn cemetery.

Mrs. Calvin, daughter of William H. and Mary A. Shattuck, was born July 5, 1874, on the Shattuck homestead in Valley township in Linn county.

She was united in marriage to Elmer L. Calvin February 13, 1898, and they started their life together on the farm three miles north of Trading Post where they lived forty-six years. They were the parents of five children: Homer Calvin, Osborne, Kansas; Lee Calvin, LaCygne; Clifton Calvin, Lawrence; and Christine Leascher and Frieda Shannon, of Kansas City, Missouri.

In May 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin retired from the farm and moved to LaCygne where Mr. Calvin died October 10, 1945. Since that time Mrs. Calvin has continued to make her home in LaCygne where she enjoyed the company of many close friends and took a great interest in the church and community affairs. She was a member of the Methodist church; first at East Mount Zion and later at the Methodist church in LaCygne.

In addition to her five children, Mrs. Calvin is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ina Calvin of Pleasanton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
