Obituary of WILLIAM A. EVERY

PNEUMONIA TAKES TWO MEMBERS OF EARLY DAY FAMILY
BROTHER, SISTER DIE WITHIN PERIOD OF 5 DAYS
DEATH OF MRS. NETTIE GRAHAM TODAY FOLLOWS THAT OF W.A. EVERY SUNDAY
Within five days death has taken a brother and sister, members of the earliest families of this vicinity, William A. Every died Sunday morning at age of 73 and his sister, Mrs. Nettie Graham (Mary Jennette) died early this morning at the age of 77. Pneumonia brought death to both. Mr. Every died at 12:30 a.m., Sunday in the home of his nephew, Major Every, 1220 Crawford. Mrs. Graham died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. A.A. Lyons, 716 South Sixteenth. She had been ill only a week and before contracting the disease herself had helped in the care of her brother who was sick two weeks before he died. A double funeral service for the two will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the presbyterian church, the Rev. Edwin W. Armstrong , assisted by Dr. O. M. Davis officiating. Mr. Every will be buried in Oakwood cemetery and Mrs. Graham in the Labette City cemetery where her husband was buried.
CAME HERE IN 1867
Mr. Every and Mrs. Graham were the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Every who came to this county 1867, four years before the city of Parsons was founded, and settled on a farm eight miles southeast of the present site of Parsons. They came from New York. William A. Every was a 9-year-old boy at the time and came with his parents. Nettie, however, stayed in New York where she was married to Thomas Graham. Mr. and Mrs. Graham came to this county 51 years ago from New York and settled on a farm adjoining that of Mrs. Graham's parents. Mr. Every leaves one son, Jesse Every of Greenfield, Indiana, who is here now, and Mrs. Graham, leaves two daughters, Mrs. W. A. Guyton and Mrs. Dana Mercer, both of rural Parsons, and two sons George Graham of rural Parsons and Robert Graham of Labette City. Mr. Graham died in April, 1913. They both are survived by one sister, Mrs. Albert Smith, 1516 Thorton, and five brothers, W. S. Every of Delta, Colorado, John Every of Oswego, George Every of Chanute, F. A. Every of Parsons and Albert Every of Stoutville, Missouri. Mrs. Graham also leaves five grand-children and two great grandchildren.
