Obituary of NANCY JANE CRAIN
Nancy Jane Crain was born April 19, 1843 in Washington county, Illinois died Sept. 23, 1915 at Stippville, Kan. aged 72 years, 5 months and 4 days. She died at the home of her son, Albert Crain. She was married to John Hatch Crain August 1854 and settled in Labette county, Kansas in 1869, where they lived for a number of years, then moved to Cherokee county where they lived until Mr. Crain's death, and lived with her daughter, Mrs Aaron Bingham in Labette county until a short time before her death. She was the mother of eighteen children, eight of whom, four boys and four girls, survive her, also one sister left to 
mourn the loss of a loved one. 
She had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood. She was a kind a good and faithful companion a kind and loving mother and those that knew her best loved her as a true friend. 
Funeral services were held at Oak Grove school house Sunday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Porter. A large crowd of friends and relatives attended the funeral and followed her to her last resting place and seen her laid in the family lot in Oak Grove cemetery.
