Obituary of GEORGE ERVIN TANNER
George Ervin Tanner, 96, died at 3:30 this morning in the Utes rest home in Chetopa.
A retired coal miner and farmer Mr. Tanner had made his home at 427 N. Lee Ave. in Columbus until going to the rest home in September of 1966.
Mr. Tanner was born April 15, 1872, on a farm seven miles northeast of Columbus in the Lone Elm district.  He was the son of Joseph and Susan Gosney Tanner.  He grew to manhood in that vicinity.  He and Lydia Williams of Columbus were married in 1900.  They lived on a farm in the Hopewell school district a number of years before he retired and moved to Columbus. Mrs. Tanner died Dec. 7, 1948.
Surviving are two sons, Chedor Tanner of Miami, Okla., route one and Ervin Tanner of Denver, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Ruhland-Murdock funeral home chapel.  The Rev. Roy Walker will officiate.  Burial will be in the Park cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8 o'clock Saturday night.
