Obituary of LAURINE TRUAN
Laurine Truan, 87, died Monday, April 8, at the Alterra Sterling House.

She was born July 3, 1914, in Ellis County, the daughter of U.G. and Mary Griese Tholen, where she grew to womanhood.

She was a graduate of Walker High School.

On May 22, 1937, she married Harvey Truan. He died December 11, 1981.

For a few years they operated the Gorham Hotel until moving south to Walker where they farmed for many years. She also taught in rural schools of the area.

She made her home in Gorham until moving to Abilene in 1990.

She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and had served as a 4-H leader in the Walker community.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; four sisters, Lucille Tholen, Luella Werner, Lillian Younkin, and Laverna Tholen.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Iris) Schmitt, Abilene, and Mrs. Darrell (Cindy) Dinkel, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two sisters, Leona Tholen, Andover, and Lucy Herman, Kinsley; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Abilene, with Fr. Randall Weber officiating.

Graveside services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Winterset Cemetery, south of Gorham.
The parish rosary will be recited at the Danner Funeral Home, Abilene, Thursday at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested in her memory to St. Andrews School.
