Obituary of EDGAR J. "EDDIE" BASGALL
Edgar J. "Eddie" Basgall, 72, Hays, died Monday, October 8, 2001, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.
He was born August 22, 1929 at Loretto, to Joseph and Hildegard VonFeldt Basgall. He married Lillian Roth on September 14, 1950, at Pfeifer.

He was a professional musician, arranger, and composer. He was a member of the Bob Hope Radio Show Orchestra and a featured musician with the Bobby Mills Orchestra in the 1950's. He performed and arranged music for many other name bands throughout the Midwet including: Tiny Hill, The Six Fat Dutchmen; and the "Whoopee John" Orchestra.

He later formed and directed the Eddie Basgall Band, and Danceland Band and the Jolly Dutchmen. He promoted tours nationally and abroad and was the owner and operator of Danceland Enterprises. He was a retired music store manager.

He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1325, and 4th degree Bishop Cunningham Assembly, all of Hays.

Survivors include; his wife of the home; three sons, Stan Basgall, Hays, Neal Basgall, Omaha, Nebraska, and Chad Basgall, Rose Hill; one daughter, Christine Basgall, Omaha, Nebraska; one brother, Marvin Basgall, Great Bend; two sisters, Vera Bellendir and Arbutus "Boots" Maltby, both of Great Bend; and five grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, October 12, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, with Fr. Don Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer.
Vigil service is at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 11, followed by a Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree rosary at 7:30 p.m., both at Clines Mortuary, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays.

The 4th degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 11.
