Obituary of ALFRED "AL" K. KARLIN
Alfred "Al" K. Karlin, 71, 1952 Severin Road, died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at the Hays Medical Center.

Al was born June 3, 1930 at Severin, the son of Celestin and Josephine Staab Karlin. He married Georgia Brungardt in 1950 and she died in 1978. He then married Mary Gonzales on August 9, 1980, at Severin.

He worked as a salesman for Hilts, Inc. for many years and was a horseman.

Al served his country with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus No. 6984, and the ApHA (Appaloosa Horseman's Association) for over 35 years.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a stepson, Ricky Gonzales; and a sister, Mildred Pfannenstiel.

Survivors include: his wife of the home; three stepsons, Austin Sepeda, Phoenix, Arizona; Mark Sepeda, Greeley, Colorado; and Julian Gonzales, Russell; one stepdaughter, Rosie Rodriguez, Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Omar and Jerry Karlin, both of Hays; four sisters, Alfreda Hammerschmidt, Wanda Schulte, and Patricia Kreutzer, all of Hays, and Corri Weber, Ellis; 16 step grandchildren; and 13 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Fr. Don Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will be at St. Severin Cemetery, Severin.
A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6 p.m. at Knights of Columbus No. 6984 rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Parish Vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 until 9:45 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Building Fund in his name and memory.
