Obituary of AMANDA KARLIN
Amanda Karlin, 97, former Hays resident, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park.

She was born October 26, 1903, at Victoria, the daughter of Anthony and Pauline Dreiling Kahn. She married William J. "Bill" Karlin on April 23, 1930, at Hays. He preceded her in death, September 26, 1976.

She spent her lifetime in Hays and worked at the old First National Bank and J.C. Penney Company, both in downtown Hays. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society Christian Mothers, both of Hays.  She moved to Kansas City in 1996.

She was preceded in death by: three brothers, Dominic, Edwin and Emil Kahn; seven sisters, Mathilda Goetz, Celestina Toepfer, Sr. Almeda Kahn, C.S.A., St. Antholine Kahn, C.S.A., Pauline Obholz, Basilia "Lilly" Waiters, and Severine Kuhn.

Survivors include: one son, Leroy Karlin, York, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Marilyn Ekey, Raytown, Missouri, and Agnes Decker, Fairborn, Ohio; one sister, Almeda Scheck, Hays; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, with Fr. Frank X. Grinko, O.F.M. Cap., and Fr. Maris Goetz O.F.M. Cap officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, and 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Cline's Mortuary of Hays.

An Altar Society Christian Mother's rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday and a Vigil service is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, both at Cline's Mortuary, Hays.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, or masses.
